Troubleshooting Notes

[1] Test in progress

[2] Test Failed

[3] Do Not Test Failure Assumed

How to test

Well you install using the respun ISO. This should be self explanitory but you never know.

Common problems and fixes

If an install type fails, leave feedback on this page (need to be logged in) or contact us. A better action would be to file a bug. IRC Memos will not be accepted as reports.

Also review the Common Problems and Fixes page - that testers can edit.

x86_64 full failed again

Posted by zcat at Mar 31, 2008 10:52 AM

minimum RAM requirements

Posted by zcat at Mar 31, 2008 11:11 AM
fails with 512M, but succeeds with 768M and 1G.
when installing ALL optional packages (except virt).
(should attempt one more install at 512M, but not selecting all optional)

512M OK w/o optional packages

Posted by zcat at Mar 31, 2008 11:18 AM
512M installs fine as long as you don't choose to install ALL the optional packages in each group and the languages.

1024 installs fine

192 and 256 and 512

Posted by Kevin Fenzi at Mar 31, 2008 08:43 PM
192 and 256 with everything selected both fail...

the message I see is:
http://www.scrye.com/[…]/20080331-respin-192mb-fail.png

512 fails with the same issue here that others have seen (swapoff).

Let me know if there are others I should try...

512 works

with opt vs without optional+languages

Posted by zcat at Mar 31, 2008 11:25 AM
a full install with ALL optional packages + languages == 2347 packages == fail
without == 1940 == success

first boot items skipped

Posted by Jeffrey Tadlock at Mar 31, 2008 09:22 PM
on some of the installs things like the license agreement, SELinux choice were skipped during firstboot. This was on VMware Server 1.0.4. We had seen something similar on another re-spin and did not consider a show stopper then, but wanted to note that I was seeing it this time as well. It very well could be VMware-ism.

32bit upgrade takes way too long

Posted by zcat at Mar 31, 2008 11:44 PM
I'm aborting my 32bit upgrade. The depcheck reached 98% after about 8 hours before I aborted it to try with 1G of ram (vs 512M) and got the same slow results. I'm assuming the problem has to do with my f7 full install including all the optional packages. (package total = 1605).

CD, Default Install

This takes 3 CDs. CD #1, #2 and #4.
