Troubleshooting Notes

[1] Test in progress

[2] Test Failed

[3] Do Not Test Failure Assumed

How to test

Well you install using the respun ISO. This should be self explanitory but you never know.

Common problems and fixes

If an install type fails, leave feedback on this page (need to be logged in) or contact us. A better action would be to file a bug. IRC Memos will not be accepted as reports.

Also review the Common Problems and Fixes page - that testers can edit.

atm even default install has no updates

NetworkManager

Posted by Southern_Gentleman at May 02, 2008 10:09 PM
During the min install i noticed that NetworkManager is now part of the Base-Base group
also noticed that on all installs NetworkManager service is enabled by default

On the min install i had to kill NM and kill the dhcpclient and restart network for yum updates to run

Network Manager

same thing for me. In the minimal install NetworkManager was enabled by default. Stopped it and re-ran dhclient eth0 and I received an IP and continued on my way.

Probably one for the release notes.

7A requires discs 1,2, and 4, with office stuff. But there's only 1 package it needs from disc 4. Consider moving it to 2 so that it would only require two discs. Seems tedious to burn a CD for only 1 package.

ppc selinux issues

Posted by Kevin Fenzi at May 04, 2008 05:03 PM
After a regular dvd install here on ppc, I am getting root in a weird selinux state where they cannot login...
they get:

uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root),1(bin),2(daemon),3(sys),4(adm),6(disk),10(wheel) context=system_u:system_r:hotplug_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023

The hotplug_t there is clearly wrong. ;(

I am trying a fresh stock f8 + applying updates to see if I can duplicate...
will also try a few more respin installs and see if it's something in the packageset somehow.

ppc selinux issues

Posted by Kevin Fenzi at May 04, 2008 11:04 PM
I did another few generic installs and it did seem to keep happening.

Doing a 'touch /.autorelabel' and rebooting cleared it up however. Might be something to note in any announcement?
I also see NetworkManager try and take over networking on ppc.

I see in the install.log:
Installing selinux-policy-targeted - 3.0.8-98.fc8.noarch
/usr/sbin/semanage: range not supported on Non MLS machines
/usr/sbin/semanage: Invalid prefix guest
/usr/sbin/semanage: Invalid prefix xguest

I'll file a bug...

I can confirm the bug... it has to do with selinux on the composing host...
