Troubleshooting Notes

[1] Test in progress

[2] Test Failed

[3] Do Not Test Failure Assumed

How to test

Well you install using the respun ISO. This should be self explanitory but you never know.

Common problems and fixes

If an install type fails, leave feedback on this page (need to be logged in) or contact us. A better action would be to file a bug. IRC Memos will not be accepted as reports.

Also review the Common Problems and Fixes page - that testers can edit.

FTP Install trouble

Posted by Scott Williams at Feb 06, 2010 05:13 PM
Using ftp install with mirrors.kernel.org, during "Starting Installation Process" continually would hang and then report could not find package. I could select Retry and it would fetch the RPM and then hang on the next.

It takes anywhere between 3-10 minutes between prompts for Retry. This marks at least one unsuccessful ftp test run.

missing files from images/install.img

Posted by D. Johnson at Feb 08, 2010 11:43 PM
1) Boot off DVD/CD media.
2) Wait until you have a rescue shell running on vt2. Change to it. (Long before you answer any anaconda questions or install)
3) find /lib/modules/2.6.*/kernel/drivers/scsi -type f |wc -l

Installed systems see 72 files.

F12-GA DVD sees 62.

F12-respin DVD sees only 12. Many drivers are missing, including BusLogic.ko.
