Notes on Preparing the Test Images

by kanarip last modified Dec 19, 2007 06:51 AM

A couple of notes you can use to prepare the images you test the Re-Spin on

What You Need

Whether it is physical hardware or a virtual machine or guest is of no particular concern. You will need to keep in mind though that what we list here does destroy data on the machines hard-drive, and -if you are preparing to do all the tests- requires a relative large amount of disk space.

A Couple of Fedora 7 Installations

You will need the following Fedora 7 Installations:

  1. A Fedora 7 default installation
  2. A Fedora 7 full installation

You will need to have networking enabled if you are to perform any of the NFS, HTTP, FTP or PXE installation tests, or if you are going to use kickstart files available specifically for testing on jigdo.fedoraunity.org.

What to Do?

Update these installations with yum before you do anything else.

Make a copy or snapshot of each of these installations, so that you keep the original version or can revert the snapshot and you can work on the copy.

Actually Testing is Another Topic

At some point in time, actually running the tests will have the appropriate documentation too.
